Who We Are

Ghana's First and Only Operating Bauxite Mine

Ghana Bauxite Company Limited (GBC) operates Ghana's first and only active bauxite mine, located in Awaso in the Western North Region. The company is jointly owned by Ofori-Poku Company Limited (80%, indigenous Ghanaian ownership) and the Government of Ghana (20%, held through GIADEC).

Awaso Mine

Located in the Western Region of Ghana, the Awaso mine has been in continuous operation since the 1940s, producing trihydrate bauxite with 52% alumina content.

Export & Logistics

Bauxite is transported via the Western Railway line to the Port of Takoradi, from where it is exported to international markets across Europe and Asia.
