Ghana Bauxite Company has commissioned a dedicated Community Relations Office in Awaso, marking a significant step in formalising and strengthening the company’s engagement with communities in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District.
The office, which is staffed by a team of community relations specialists, will serve as the formal point of contact between GBC and surrounding communities. Its functions include management of the company’s social investment programmes, operation of the community grievance mechanism, and facilitation of transparent communication on operational matters.
District Chief Executive for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, speaking at the opening ceremony, welcomed the initiative as a positive step towards more structured and accountable engagement between the mining company and affected communities.
The Community Relations Office is open to community members during regular business hours. Community members with concerns, questions, or programme applications are encouraged to visit or telephone the office directly.
The office also coordinates GBC’s school support programme, community health outreach activities, and local enterprise development initiatives in the Awaso area.
